There’s nothing quite like the rivalry between the Chelsea Bulldogs and Dexter Dreadnaughts. The school colors, hometown pride, packed stands, and, of course, the bragging rights.
But in 2026, this longtime rivalry is about something even bigger than what happens on the football field.
The Chelsea Education Foundation (CEF) and Educational Foundation of Dexter (EFD) are once again turning the excitement of Chelsea vs. Dexter into an opportunity to support students, teachers, and educational experiences in both communities.

A Rivalry Where Students Win
The 2026 Rivalry Match challenges Chelsea and Dexter to see which community can raise the most for its education foundation before halftime of the big game on September 25, 2026.
Every donation made for Team Chelsea supports Chelsea Education Foundation and its mission to enhance educational opportunities throughout the Chelsea School District.
CEF helps fund innovative teacher grants, classroom resources, field trips, arts and music programs, STEM and STEAM experiences, literacy initiatives, scholarships, and more.
So while we definitely want the Rivalry Match trophy back in Chelsea, the real winners are our students.
Chelsea, It’s Our Turn
Chelsea and Dexter have shown just how powerful a little friendly competition can be.
Chelsea captured Rivalry Match victories in 2021 and 2022, including an incredible $50,072 raised in 2022. Dexter answered with wins in 2023 and 2024.
Last year, the competition remained close, with Chelsea raising $25,075 and Dexter raising $27,005 in 2025.
Now it’s 2026.
A new year. A new matchup. A new opportunity to bring the Rivalry Match title back to Chelsea.
Two Communities. One Bigger Purpose.
We’re proudly cheering for Chelsea, but one of the best things about the Rivalry Match is that both communities win.
Chelsea donations support Chelsea students through CEF, while Dexter donations support Dexter students through EFD.
It’s a friendly rivalry with a shared purpose: creating more opportunities for local students.
But make no mistake…
We still want Chelsea on top of that scoreboard on September 25!
